Amazing! Could Islam be the Problem with Islam?

... this book highly recommended

The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)

"The Koran, Spencer argues, does not teach tolerance and peace. At best, he explains, there are isolated sections which urge Muslims to leave unbelievers alone in their errant ways, and which counsel that forced conversion is forbidden. But these must be considered in context with other verses, such as those directing that Mohammed "make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them," and that the faithful "slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them captive, and besiege them," and so on."

Another Line in the Sand

UN: Draws a line in the sand and says, "I dare you to cross this line."
Iran: Crosses the line and asks, "What are you going to do about it?"
UN: Draws another line in the sand and says, "I double-dog dare you."

From the AP: U.N. Deadline on Iran Looms Tomorrow
TOMSK, Russia - The leaders of Russia and Germany urged Iran to fulfill its international nuclear obligations Thursday, a day before a U.N. Security Council deadline for Iran to stop enriching uranium.

While the Iranians threaten the destruction of Israel and everyday engage in the most provocative threats against the US, Putin says:
"Our position is clear and well known. We are for the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction," Putin said. "But we believe that Iran must have an opportunity to develop modern technologies and peaceful nuclear energy."

The headline announces a "deadline" but I suspect we'll see another line drawn.

President Bush Is Such A Slow Learner ...

"To put it another way: Amnesty is not the most objectionable feature of the president’s plan. It is the combination of amnesty with laxity in enforcement and a new guest-worker program to which we object. If we are not going to require employers to take the simplest steps to verify the legal status of their employees, then an amnesty will simply act as a magnet for more illegal immigration in the future."

"The wisest course for Republicans would be to say something like the following: “Immigration has made this country better. Immigration can continue to work for America if we make sure that it proceeds in an orderly, manageable, and rational way. We will enforce our laws at the border and the workplace. Once we have brought illegal immigration under control, we will consider increasing legal immigration levels and granting an amnesty to some illegal immigrants who are already here. Whatever we decide, we will at all times treat illegal immigrants humanely.”

BATFE Goes Illegal Again!

As reported in the May 2006 issue of America's First Freedom:

"The BATFE detained cars driven by gun buyers, confiscated legal arms and threatened attendees with "meaningless" letters like this one."

"BATFE's assistant director for Field Operations, Michael Bouchard, offered a very limited apology for a few of the Bureau's actions, admitting that "some techniques" used at the show were not "consistent with ATF's best practices."

The letter, hard to read at this resolution, states that as per Title 18 U.S.C. Section 924(a)(1)(A), a crime punishable for up to five (5) years, the firearm you purchased is being taken into ATF custody. The law has to do with illegally "dealing" in arms sales without a license. One needs an FFL (Federal Fireams License) to sell guns. The problem!: Those given the letter and having their arms taken away were legal! The BATF actually required these folks to drive to the Richmond, Virginia ATF office and explain to the officials there, why they legally purchased said firearm. Ladies and gents, if you don't believe that some in our government aren't "jack-booted thugs", then you are a mindless slave! I'm all for the good guys going after criminals and Terrorists - BUT NOT LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS! A few bad apples in the BATFE are really making them stink.

The Attrition Continues - Ready Made Terrorists

"RADICAL MUSLIM CHAPLAINS, trained in a foreign ideology, certified in foreign-financed schools, and acting in coordination to impose an extremist agenda have gained a monopoly over Islamic religious activities in American state, federal, and city prisons and jails."

With leaders ignoring the rise of Islamic Clerics in our military, the official punishment of Christian Chaplains in our military and prisons, and the unwillingness of our leaders to recognize the problem; one has to ask; are our leaders just stupid, or is there a plan behind their anti-Americanism?

Florida Reacts to Corporations that Hate Freedom

Most Conservatives love and respect our Constitution. Knowledgeable, sensible people especially treasure the Bill of Rights. At least, that's what we would expect. Incredibly, the trend indicates that many "so-called American" corporations think otherwise. Florida is trying to remind these companies that they WILL BECOME TARGETS FOR LEGAL ACTION!

The Gathering Storm

From the closing paragraphs of the opening chapter of The Gathering Storm by Winston Churchill:
It is my purpose as one who has lived and acted in these days, first to show how easily the tragedy of the Second World War could have been prevented; how the malice of the wicked was reinforced by the weakness of the virtuous; how the structure and habits of democratic states, unless they are welded into larger organisms, lack those elements of persistence and conviction which alone give security to humble masses; how, even in matters of self-preservation, no policy is pursued for even ten or fifteen years at a time. We shall see how the counsels of prudence and restraint may become the prime agents of mortal danger; how the middle course adopted from desires for safety and a quiet life may be found to lead directly to the bull’s-eye of disaster. We shall see how absolute is the need of a broad path of international action pursued by many states in common across the years, irrespective of the ebb and flow of national politics.

Read this part again:
...the counsels of prudence and restraint may become the prime agents of mortal danger; how the middle course adopted from desires for safety and a quiet life may be found to lead directly to the bull’s-eye of disaster.

For too many, the desires for safety and a quiet life are leading to the bull’s-eye of yet another disaster. We lost much time during the Clinton years; wishing to relax with the peace dividend of the post cold-war years, we were unwilling to acknowledge the rise of the murderous Mohammedans. Will we continue to ignore the gathering storm of a nuclear-armed Death Cult which has already declared its solemn vow for our destruction?

Are The Good Times Really Over?

From the incomparable Merle Haggard:

I wish a buck was still silver like back when the country was strong.
Back before Elvis and before the Vietnam war came along.
Before the Beatles and yesterday when a man could still work and still would.
Is the best of the free life behind us now and are the good times really over for good ?

Are we rollin' downhill like a snowball headed for hell?
With no kind of chance for the flag or the liberty bell?
I wish a Ford or a Chevy would still last ten years like they should.
Is the best of the free life behind us now and are the good times really over for good?

I wish Coke was still cola and a joint was a bad place to be.
It was back before Nixon lied to us all on TV.
Before Microwave ovens when a girl could still cook, and still would.

Stop rollin' downhill like a snowball headed for hell.
Standup for the flag, and let's all ring the liberty bell.
Let's make a Ford and a Chevy that'll still last ten years like they should...
The best of the free life is still yet to come and the good times ain't really over for good.

C.A.I.R. Loses Lawsuit

The Council on American/Islamic Relations, supporters of Terrorists, lose their lawsuit against A.CAIR (anti-Cair). Friends of CAIR, once known to Americans as the FBI and CIA had no comment.

"· CAIR’s lineage goes back to a key Hamas leader (Musa Abu Marzook), and that CAIR has long been connected with, and “exploited” the 9/11 attacks to raise money for the Holy Land Foundation, a Hamas front group.
· CAIR is heavily supported, financially and otherwise, by suspect Saudi and UAE-based individuals and groups.
· CAIR states that the U.S. judicial system has been “kidnapped by Israeli interests,” and claims that anti-terror law enforcement action against the Holy Land Foundation was “an anti-Muslim witch hunt” promoted by “the pro-Israel lobby in America.”

Geeezz! Almost on Cue ...

Huge Explosion Near U.S. Embassy Rocks Kabul

Bad News In Afghanistan ?!?

... you wonder how much of this can be verified, and how much cannot!

Even though I have disagreements with Rumsfeld and Bush on how the war is being conducted, I've always believed in Rummy's insistence that the military become lighter, faster; more "SpecOps" oriented. This has to be done without reducing the conventional forces, however - hence, you have complaining retired generals. If the budget was controlled by a conservative president and a conservative congress this alteration of the armed forces would have already been done, because we would have had the money to do so. Alas, that time and effort has been squandered.

Both Conventional and SpecOp forces are needed for the work in Afghanistan and Iraq. And before you ask, nobody died and made me the Joint Chiefs, but I do have a little knowledge in this area. Conventional forces are there to show and exert massive, devastating force when necessary; the SpecOps are there to mingle with the people and figure out what lies just beneath the surface - to bring the stew to a simmer and not let it boil over. The SpecOps can do a great deal of good; and/or, a great deal of damage at specific locations. The Conventional troops, with their heavy armor, aircraft and artillery are good at doing damage over large areas. Obviously, technology has commingled this concept some; so these two forces work well together also.

Without both types of forces, in required quantities, Afghanistan and Iraq will just become a never-ending boiling stew that constantly gets replenished by foreign potatoes and meat. The "heat" has to be turned down, either by "cooling" or by igniting excess "fuel". I believe this means doing something about the Muslim world overall; Syria, Iran, Indonesia, the entire Arabian peninsula; all must come into play, either by hook or crook. This is a global world war we're involved in - it requires massive action. If the stew can't be brought to a simmer, maybe it's time to simply kick over the whole pot, into the fire. I'm not sure that Rummy and George are willing to go that far.

You may ask, hasn't Rumsfeld and President Bush done all this already? My answer would be "no", not to the extent needed. Besides, the question remains - is what they're doing really working?

One Group That "Cares" About C.A.I.R.

"G.E.T.S. reportedly turned CAIR down because it did not qualify for this status, but it would have been on solid ground denying the request because of CAIR’s telephonic connections to persons suspected of links to terrorists, as CAIR has helpfully detailed in its own court filings."

... question - does anyone in the Bush administration pay attention to stuff like this?

Cognitive Dissonance 5 - The F.B.I.

"Much of this information was provided to the FBI’s Buffalo office, yet the event still went on as planned. According to agent Moskal, he was “offended” that there were concerned citizens that had warned him ahead of time not to attend. He stated, “I was very offended. I mean, what’s the FBI’s international reputation?” But where was his offense at what CAIR and its officials had been involved in, and where was his compassion for his fellow agent – one of the best the FBI has ever employed?"

... just shut down the agency, shut it down - another SNAFU by the FBI - who's in charge of that place? ...

History should tell us something.

A soldier's body has been found and identified after being buried in the mud of Flanders for 92 years. Private Richard Lancaster was among the first to die in the first Battle of Ypres which saw an estimated 238,000 casualties in Oct-Nov 1914. But the real carnage came in July through November of 1917 when an estimated 568,000 men were killed or wounded. There were an estimated 950,000 casualties here at three major battles throughout the Great War.

Whenever I am reminded of the huge and senseless casualty numbers of WWI, I can better understand how a continent of people could lose their faith in a good and loving God but WWI is not the only reason for the secularization of Europe. It was just one bloody event in a chain of events as a people fell away from Christianity and brought calamity onto themselves.

History should tell us something.

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Britt Hume just reported that the EU has announced that words such as Islamic terrorism, jihad, Islamist, etc are no longer to be used. Too inflammatory. Much more sensitive, politically correct references should be made to those who indiscriminately kill and maim in the name of Allah.

So, Europe has crossed the line into full capitulation and no discussion or debate will ensue regarding the compatiblity of Islam with western democracies. They have selected dhimmitude

For all practical purposes, the US will be going it alone and if George W. Bush takes action against Iran, the resulting cacaphony will be more cries of "unilateralism," more accusations of "war crimes," more anti-Americanism. Unfortunately, his foreign critics will be joined in a full-throated assault by the US Democrats rabid for impeachment. The US will be ostracised and vilified by an incoherent and irrational world. Allies such as Italy will fall away one-by-one as their leaders find themselves unable to withstand the vitriolic hate and violence directed against them.

The Russians and Chinese will continue to thwart US power and dominance as they watch the US die of a thousand cuts so that they can assume the mantle of hegemon.

George Bush is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Who among us would wish to be in his shoes?

A Great Photo by AP Photographer Saurabh Das

Stones are thrown during a demonstration against the King in Nepal. Although this is reported as a demonstration by the opposition party, Marxists have been waging an insurgency in this little mountain kingdom.

This is a great photograph. It looks like an old world painting. I don't know if it has been retouched but the composition and quality of light are remarkable. Also, the multitude of characters in action remind me of the European masters.

The Power of Prayer

Australian authorities have arrested three more individuals on terrorism charges. These arrests were made in connection to the arrest of 10 men in November.

The suspects' lawyer, Rob Stary, who also represents 10 men arrested in the November sweep, said all his clients had attended the same prayer group of a prominent radical Muslim cleric sympathetic to Osama bin Laden.
"The point of common interest between them is that they've all been members of the same prayer group," Stary told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio.
They were all members of the same prayer group. Isn't that special?

Cognitive Dissonance

Bush, Kristol, ... Trotsky?

The first neocon: Leon Trotsky broke with Lenin and Stalin over Communist brutality and was himself eventually murdered by Stalin's agents. But Trotsky, like today's neocons, always remained true to the idea of international socialism.

... were we warned years ago?

China Sending the US a Message

Why would China be the first foreign, non-Arab country to diplomatically receive a Hamas representative?

What is the problem with Russia and China? If they could only act like a adults ready to enter the civilised world of nations, then we could trust them which in turn would lead them to trust us. Unfortunately, in the middle of a Mohammedan uprising, the Russians and the Chinese have seem to behave as they always have. That is; in a very un-American way.

I've read that while the US is embroiled in the middle east, the Sinos and Soviets are very busy with their global realignment schemes designed to control and deliver gas and oil. I think the Russians more so than the Chinese but what do I know. The Chinese economy has been expanding at a phenomenal rate and they have every interest in maintaining a secure source of energy. In the past few years, we have seen commodities such as cement rapidly increase in value and at times become a rationed item as the Chinese appetite for building materials grew. The Chinese are getting very prosperous off US dollars. As of right now, I don't think the Chinese represent a military threat to the US. We are, after all, their number one customer. No, they'll happily continue to sell us all that we will buy and for as long as we can and will buy it.

I don't blame them, I would be doing pretty much the same thing. Selling, watching, spying, building alliances, finding weaknesses, securing energy sources, currying favor. One would think that freeing 25 million people from a ruthless dictator would stand one in good stead with the freed. One would think, until one remembered that the 25 million are Mohammedans and it remains to be seen whether they will be grateful for anything. Although the Kuwaitis were... Oh well, we'll see.
