Yep! I agree. We all realize we should help, of course, but we need to reduce government, not enlarge it. How about getting rid of the National Endowment for the Arts, or the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, or the federal Department of Education? The IRS anyone? ...Department of Energy? Department of Interior?...

When I was out walking the dog, I realized that I shouldn't try to slow down the Katrina funding debate by pointing out that there's now way it's going to cost any $200 billion. I should let debate take it's natural course and let everyone fight it out about how to fund the recovery. It will provide much fodder for the upcoming elections.
